The organizers invite all interested local NGOs to take part in the program of financing scholarships for the 1st year at a university course. The competition is addressed to organizations that would like to join the coalition of partners participating in the Bridge Scholarships program, and who have already been running scholarship programs for their local communities or are ready to start one soon.
When participating in the program, a local organization can recommend candidates for scholarships, and thus give the people they want to assist a unique opportunity to benefit from an extensive scholarship system that covers all Poland. Once in the system, young people may be awarded a scholarship for the 1st year at a university course in the amount of PLN 5,000, paid in 10 monthly installments; they may also get financial support over next years of their university education. The organization from a village or a small town of up to 20,000 residents shall cover 5% of the scholarship financial cost (assuming that it receives a grant from the Rural Development Foundation), or up to 25% of the scholarship financial cost if it is an organization established in a city. The remaining part of the scholarship is financed by the Partners of the program.
Apart from the scholarship for the 1st year at a university course, a Bridge Scholarship holder has a chance to get support over the following years of studying. The best of those students can receive scholarships for their 2nd, 3rd and 4th years of study, as well as scholarships for learning foreign languages, studying at universities abroad, for doctoral courses, and doing an internship abroad; those already without financial contribution from the recommending organization.
In 2019/20 academic year, about 1,000 will get the scholarships and opportunities to attend workshops and internships. That includes about 600 students starting their 1st year at a university course.
The applications are accepted by April 24, 2019. More information about the competition: www.stypendia-pomostowe.pl.
The competition is a joint undertaking of the Polish-American Freedom Foundation, the Rural Development Foundation, and the Educational Enterprise Foundation.
