The coronavirus pandemic rapidly accelerated changes in Polish school and showed how important teachers are in that process. How shall teachers prepare to face the challenges of the modern times and where should they do that?
The School of Education of Polish-American Freedom Foundation and University of Warsaw opens a scholarship program for both future and practicing teachers already for the sixth time. Since the social change starts with them.
There is no doubt that the last year brought about a real revolution in education. First distance teaching was introduced and teachers had to learn new tools in no time. Next new didactic challenges arrived, followed by aggravating burnout and dispiritedness of students. That all takes place in the environment of omnipresent fake news and crisis of public trust in science.
That situation has shown us how important is educating teachers that are ready for changes and effective not only in teaching their subjects but also in educating students. These are the teachers the School of Education of PAFF and UW prepares at its only in Poland tuition-free full-time postgraduate courses.
Polish, history, math, biology teachers. That scholarship is for you!
Eligible to apply for these tuition-free courses are holders of M.A. degree in Polish studies, history, math, and biology and of fields related to the latter two. The course lasts for 10 months. Over that time students can get a scholarship of PLN 1,500-2,000. Those who live out of Warsaw can also get free accommodation at a single room in a UW residence hall.
Graduates of the School of Education receive a diploma of University of Warsaw, a teaching license and an offer of work at school. They have also an opportunity to participate in a 2-year support program which makes their beginnings of professional career easier.
Teachers who are not afraid of change
We need teachers who not only are excellent in teaching their subject but also can inspire, educate and prepare students to live in a changing world. Those who know how to learn not only from successes but also from mistakes. Those are the people the School of Education addresses its scholarship program to.
The scholarships are offered to people who have just finished or are just finishing the above-mentioned M.A. courses but also to those who work – for example for a corporation – but would like to change something in their life. And it’s an offer for practicing teachers as well if they want to improve their skills. But first and foremost – it’s an offer for those who have always wanted to work with children and young people but haven’t had an opportunity to get a teaching license.
The 1st round of recruitment is on by April 18. Detailed information can be found HERE.
