What is „Sector 3.0” Fund?
„Sector 3.0” Fund is an initiative supporting creation of new tools, applications and products that are in line with the Tech for Good idea. If you see a problem in your close or not-so-close surrounding and you know how to solve it or you have an idea of a tool that can make someone’s life easier, then you can’t miss that opportunity! Any idea of applying technology to make the world a better place to live can turn out to be very valuable!
We can already demonstrate a lot of examples of Tech for Good idea implementations. Starting from e-learning platform that was designed especially for the community of people with impaired hearing, to the tool allowing people in a state of minimal consciousness or conscious but paralyzed communicate with others via eye-computer interactions. These tools have already helped many people, but there are still very many problems waiting to be solved.
Financing and knowledge – two types of support for the idea authors
„Sector 3.0” Fund combines financial support and expertise necessary to implement new technology. At the first stage, the selected participants will be invited to the Fund Incubation, that is a comprehensive training and consulting series. Under Incubation, that lasts three months (from March 21 to May 27) special workshops allowing the authors to work out in details the idea of a new technology, and then prepare a full plan of making their new solution and launching it will be held. The workshops will focus on such issues as research, making a prototype, preparing a business model, sale, fundraising, and presentation of the idea.
At the second stage, the selected ideas authors will get the financial support from the Fund. There will be two rounds of financing. The first grant, which the Fund participants can use to make a tool prototype, will be offered on May 27, 2020 during the “Sector 3.0” Festival. The awarding of grants will be decided by a committee composed of Orange, Netguru, Deloitte Digital, Coalition for Polish Innovation, and Polish-American Freedom Foundation experts.
What financial support can be awarded to a team? The amount of money invested in the tools by the Fund will depend on the progress of the project development. The first check-up will take place at the end of September 2020. The expert committee will assess the results of the work done on the project by the idea authors and decide on awarding following amount of money. “We shall pay special attention on the potential impact the tool can have and how big group of people can benefit from it,” Patryk Betcher of the Information Society Development Foundation says.
A total amount of grants is PLN 100,000.
