The Polish-American Freedom Foundation and the Leaders of Change Foundation announce an open competition for candidates for Lane Kirkland scholarships in 2018/19 academic year.
Initiated in 2000 by the Polish-American Freedom Foundation, the Lane Kirkland Scholarship Program aims at sharing the Polish experiences in transformation with representatives from Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Caucasus by means of two-semester complementary studies at five Polish universities.
Under individual study programs, Lane Kirkland scholarship holders study selected aspects of such fields as economics and management, public administration and business, law, social and political sciences. They have also participated in the courses on leaders’ animation and individual development. The program’s offer also includes an introduction course covering basic information about Poland, integration gatherings and traineeships in state and private institutions.
The candidates shall:
- be representatives of the following environments: staff of state and self-government institutions, businessmen, managers, culture and civic activity animators, academic teachers and journalists;
- meet the following formal criteria: have citizenship of and reside in one of the above-mentioned countries (permanent residence in Poland card holders cannot apply for the Kirkland scholarship); have completed full university course (holders of MA title), be under 35 of age (in justified cases under 40), know Polish well enough to be able to benefit from academic classes, including writing the diploma thesis or English if indicated; have at least two-year job experience.
Preferred candidates are those who are active in their professional and social environments and have significant achievements as well as those who haven’t studied in Poland yet.

The Leaders of Change Foundation is the Manager of the Program, based on the experiences of the American Fulbright Program. In the years 2000-2018 789 scholarship holders completed the program.
