“The Sector 3.0 Award of the Polish-American Freedom Foundation was established to acknowledge the success and hard work of an organization, and at the same time to show that the NGO sector is able to use new technologies without feeling inferior. Participation in the competition gives you a great opportunity to popularize activities of your foundation or association, and at the same time it is a chance to become a winner and get the financial support of PLN 40,000. We encourage all organizations using ICT to submit their applications to this-year’s round of our competition,” PAFF Program Director Radosław Jasiński says.
“The Sector 3.0 Award of the Polish-American Freedom Foundation has boosted our self-confidence. We have always known that we want to use ICT for our activities because they are an effective tool in introducing social changes. The award was a kind of confirmation for us that we can do it despite being an organization located in a small town. We started to believe we can do what we love and it will be noticed,” President of SIM RzeczJasna Foundation Kinga Wiśniewska says. “The award of PLN 40,000 allowed us to develop our activities. Thanks to that grant we could buy ITC equipment for our foundation and operate it in more predictable reality. It helped us to survive the first year of our seven-year-long operation without any substantial grants and now we are doing quite well,” she adds.
The award is addressed to organizations using ICT tools in their everyday work aimed at socially useful purposes. When assessing the application, the Competition Committee shall be guided by the following criteria:
- Scope and effects of actions aimed at popularization of new ICT in Third Sector;
- Experience and achievements in creating, developing, adapting or researching ICT solutions in NGO environment;
- Practical benefits for NGOs of their to-date activity in the ICT area;
- Innovative and practical use of information and communications technologies in the organization functioning and pursuing its statutory goals.
If two or more candidates get the same number of votes, the decision on the winner will be made by the Competition Committee Chairperson.
The winner of the competition will be announced on the first day of this-year’s Sector 3.0 Festival round that will be held at the Copernicus Science Center on May 22.
