The “Bridge Scholarships” is an extensive scholarship program for students of the first and subsequent years of study at universities. Eligible to apply for scholarships are high school graduates from small towns and villages from low-income families who performed well at school and will continue education at the first year of full-time course at a state university, and meet at least one of the following four conditions – they come from a family of former state-owned farm worker, are the finalists of a subject Olympiad at high-school level, are from a large family or were raised in a step-family or a state children home, or are recommended by a local non-governmental organization.
The Bridge Scholarship for the first year of studies amounts to PLN 5,000 and is paid in 10 monthly instalments of PLN 500. After completion of the first year the high-performing scholarship holders can take benefit of scholarships for the second, third and fourth years of studies, foreign language scholarships, scholarships for studying abroad, doctoral scholarships and internships.
The recruitment to the program process will be run on-line on www.stypendia-pomostowe.pl. The applications can be submitted from July 1, 2019 to August 14, 2019, 16:00.
About 1,000 students will be granted scholarships for studies and access to workshops and internships in the academic year 2019/20, including several hundred scholarships for the 1st year of study.
The Bridge Scholarships Program is one of the largest non-governmental scholarships programs in Poland. To date over 22,700 various scholarships were granted under that program, including over 16,000 for the 1st year of study. The program is carried out thanks to involvement of a broad group of Partners – the Polish-American Freedom Foundation, the National Bank of Poland, the Rural Development Foundation, the BGŻ BNP Paribas Foundation and a coalition of some 90 local NGOs. The undertaking is implemented in cooperation with the National Center of Support for Agriculture, Professor Bronisław Geremek’s Center, and the Unit for Social Innovation and Research “Shipyard” Foundation.
The Partners disbursed a total of over PLN 110 million for implementation of seventeen rounds of the program.
The program is managed by the Educational Enterprise Foundation.
