The “PAFF Leaders” program implemented since 2004 by Zbigniew Pełczyński School of Leaders Foundation is a Polish-American Freedom Foundation undertaking which supports development of qualifications and skills in people acting for the benefit of their local communities. It is mainly based on the tutoring method that consists in continuous cooperation with experienced tutors.
The essential part of that program is a 12-month cooperation with tutor, and a series of training sessions tailored to the participants’ needs and priorities. They include self-development planning, building a team, managing an organization, communication, engaging the community, and building local partnerships. The skills acquired under the program shall help leaders in their activities benefitting local communities.
An important part is the Alumni initiative – an offer addressed to the program alumni and aimed at development of their cooperation and experience sharing. Among other things, it allows the alumni to participate in meetings with renown public figures, participation in workshops which they can find useful, as well as getting grants for leaders’ projects from the alumni initiative fund. Additionally, since 2008 PAFF Leaders Study Tours to the USA have been held under the International Visitor Leadership Program in cooperation with the US Embassy in Poland. Each year they were attended by a group of ten people.
As a result of 19 rounds of the program run so far, over 800 local leaders from all over Poland have improved their qualifications, the active national network has been established, and over 70 people have been educated to become experts in tutoring method.
„’PAFF Leaders’ program helped me to understand people I work with, and improve the quality of management. That allowed me to build a strong and involved team whose members feel needed and know how to implement activities aimed at supporting families with disabled children in our local community,” says participant of the 18th round Paweł Romański of Spółdzielnia Socjalna Inicjatywa in Puławy.
The independent experts’ committee will select 46 participants from among the applying candidates.
