Enrollment to the “Green Leader” Program aimed at supporting local leaders in their activities for environment and climate protection as well as for working out new, sustainable ways of local communities development using, among others, European Green Deal fund has been launched.
The Polish-American Freedom Foundation (PAFF) and the Sendzimir Foundation have the pleasure to inform that Enrollment to the “Green Leader” Program aimed at supporting local leaders in their activities for environment and climate protection as well as for working out new, sustainable ways of local communities development using, among others, the European Green Deal fund has been launched.
Climate change and natural environment degradation have negative impact on our lives. We face a challenge to reduce them and work out new, more sustainable ways for development of our communities.
We invite:
- PAFF programs participants and alumni;
- Local government and civic leaders (mixed groups consisting of NGO leaders and local government representatives will be preferred);
- Local leaders acting in villages and towns of up to 50,000 residents (or in justified cases of up to 100,000 residents);
- People aware of the need to protect environment
- to participate in our program.
The program is of training and consultancy nature. Its participants – 18 leaders with their two-people teams – can follow one of the following three thematic paths:
- waste management,
- local water retention and counteracting droughts,
- air quality and improvement and reduction of greenhouse gases emissions.
The first stage will start in form of e-learning on February 21, 202and will introduce the teams to the subject of climate change, environment protection and sustainable development. The participants will make a diagnosis of a problem related to one of three thematic paths that the community of their commune is trying to solve. Eighteen most engaged teams will be invited to participate in the next stage of the program. Over the following months each team will take part in the workshops, be consulted by experts, go on study tours and will develop the action plan of solving the problem identified in the e-learning stage.
Thanks to their participation in the program, the leaders will among other things:
- learn how to solve an important for their local community problem related to environment and climate protection,
- learn to use methods and tools facilitating introduction of a local community change,
- will be able to apply for grants from the European Green Deal and other funds for their own pro-ecological initiatives.
Implementation of the training and consultancy program will start at the end of February and last to November 2022.
