The Education for Democracy Foundation and Polish-American Freedom Foundation invite Polish NGOs to participate in “Partnership to the Power” competition held under the “Region in Transition” (RITA) program.
About the program
The “RITA” program offers grants for projects supporting democratic, social and economic transformation implemented in countries of Eastern Europe, South Caucasus, and Central Asia by Polish NGOs and their partners in these countries. The projects shall include sharing Polish experience in the field as a main element.
The program launched in 2000 is addressed to NGOs and educational institutions that are willing to share Polish experience in social and economic transformation with their partners in Eastern Europe, South Caucasus, and Central Asia. The grant competition is for partner projects implemented in the following countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
The rules of the competition
The objective of the competition is to award grants to the best projects implemented jointly by partners in Poland and at least one of countries of Eastern Europe, South Caucasus, and Central Asia covered by the program. The projects should contribute to democratic and systemic transformation of the countries covered by the program through sharing Polish experience in transformation.
Eligible to participate in the competition are organizations that have implemented at least 3 projects financed by “RITA” under open grant competitions over last 5 years. The project submitted to the competition must be the continuation of these projects and consist in extending its impact and its outcomes durability or in implementation of these projects in countries of the Region.
The projects proposed in the competition shall, for example:
- Popularize outcomes of the previous projects,
- Implement solutions worked out under RITA program,
- Extend the group of recipients of good practices worked out and checked in previous projects,
- Network institutions – offer support in establishing contacts and cooperation at international or local level in the country covered by the program,
- Extend substantive support for groups of recipients whose benefit the applying Polish NGO works for in cooperation with its local partner,
- Institutionalize proven solutions implemented at earlies stages of acting at local level and embedding them in the laws, collections of good practices or institutional guidelines at the supra-local or national level.
It cannot be a pilot project or one that covers totally new area of activities, other than resulting from experience gained under “RITA” program. Preferred will be applications submitted by organizations which currently are not implementing other projects financed by the “Region in Transition” program.
