The second round of the “Relief Fund for NGOs and Civic Initiatives” – the PAFF program run in cooperation with the Education for Democracy Foundation – has been launched. Applications to the grant competition addressed to NGOs operating in the area of education and children and youth social development are being accepted.
About the program
The “Relief Fund” was launched in March 2020. Its objective was to support organizations in an especially difficult situation due to COVID-19 pandemic and counteract the effects of pandemic in their communities.
Some 158 organizations have received grants for a total amount of over PLN 5 million. That allowed them adjust their program activities to pandemic situation and start new projects, often of an intervention nature, addressed to people in particular need of help. The program participants received also institutional support in form of subsidies to cover administrative costs and remuneration of the staff.
Experiences of the PAFF, its partners and other NGOs show that pandemic and resulting social isolation and distance learning have strong negative impact on children and young people, especially in villages and small towns, as well as on groups endangered with social exclusion. Therefore the new round of the “Relief Fund”, which is planned for the years 2022 and 2023, is targeted mainly at supporting civic initiatives in the area of education and children and young people social development. Its objectives are:
- Counteracting and minimizing children’s and young people’s educational losses,
- Improving effectiveness of learning and teaching students in pandemic situation,
- Ensuring safety and improving both mental and physical health,
- Counteracting social isolation of young people.
