If you are taking your first steps in the journalism profession and want to gain a solid foundation for working in local media, this training is for you! ABC of Local Journalism is an intensive course organized as part of the “Media Forum. Local Development” program.
The training consists of three weekend sessions, during which participants will learn about, among other things:
- the legal aspects of journalism,
- ways of obtaining information and assessing its value,
- the principles of constructing news texts,
- journalistic forms: news, reportage, commentary, interviews,
- the basics of storytelling in online videos,
- professional photography techniques in the media.

Location: Warsaw
Cost: The training is free of charge. The organizers provide full -board accommodation. Participants only cover their travel expenses.
Enrollment conditions:
Candidates must collaborate or plan to collaborate with local media – confirmation from the editorial office is required. Applications are evaluated by a committee of program experts.
Lecturers:
Classes are taught by renowned journalists from local and national media, including:
- Ewa Ewart – a renowned documentary filmmaker associated for many years with the BBC, among others, and a specialist in reportage,
- Magdalena Rigamonti – press and radio journalist, expert in the art of interviewing,
- Andrzej Andrysiak – publisher of Gazeta Radomszczańska, Journalist of the Year 2024, teaches investigative journalism,
- Jacek Pawłowski, Jarosław Śliżewski, Vadim Makarenko, Anna Gielewska, Paweł Czajkowski – experienced journalists, media market experts, practitioners, and journalism trainers.

The training is organized as part of the “Media Forum. Local Development” program – a joint initiative of Media Forum Foundation and Polish-American Freedom Foundation. The aim of the program is to support the professional development of local media journalists through:
- free, comprehensive training conducted by recognized experts,
- individual legal counseling,
- study visits and internships at national editorial offices,
- networking and exchange of experiences,
- access to a multimedia educational platform.
