Young people from small towns and from indigent families can once again apply for a scholarship for the first year of full-time studies under the nationwide Bridge Scholarships Program (BSP). This is as much as PLN 10,000 of support for ambitious young people who, in addition to good academic results, meet the other conditions of the program's regulations.
Enrollment for the 24th edition of the BSP began on July 8. This year’s high school graduates and high school graduates admitted to the first year of full-time studies can apply for the bridge scholarship.
Candidates must be from a rural area or small town (up to 20,000 residents) and from an indigent family (monthly per capita family income calculated as of June 2025 must not exceed PLN 3,266 gross). The conditions must be met together.
In addition, a person applying for a bridge scholarship must meet one of the following three criteria:
- be a finalist/finalist of a subject Olympiad in high school,
- be an alumna/alumnus of a large family or a foster family or a state orphanage,
- have a recommendation from a local NGO participating in the program.
The scholarship for the first year of study is PLN 10,000 and is paid in installments, for 10 months of the academic year. Participants in the program who achieve good results in their studies during the first year can take advantage of scholarships for subsequent years of study, language scholarships, scholarships for foreign internships. Scholarship recipients can also participate in workshops, courses, trainings to develop their competencies and prepare them for the dynamically changing labor market, as well as in social activities to strengthen their civic attitudes and leadership skills.

The Bridge Scholarships Program was initiated in 2002 by the Polish-American Freedom Foundation. Since its inception, it has been administered by the Educational Enterprise Foundation. To date, the program has awarded more than 28,000 scholarships of various types, including 19,000 for the first year of study. It is one of the largest non-governmental scholarship programs in Poland.
The author and strategic partner of the Program is the Polish-American Freedom Foundation. The Program’s partners are: Inter Cars Foundation and a coalition of dozens of local NGOs. The Partners have so far allocated PLN 149 million for implementation of the the program.
The program is implemented in cooperation with the Professor Bronisław Geremek Center, the Laboratory for Research and Social Innovation “Shipyard”, the Good Network Foundation, and the Foundation for the Promotion and Accreditation of Economic Education.
