PAFF will provide PLN 1.3 million in support for the activities of Polish non-governmental organizations providing aid to civilians in Ukraine, as well as to war refugees staying in Poland, as part of the new round of the “Support for Ukraine” program.
“Support for Ukraine” is a special grant program launched in 2022 by the Polish-American Freedom Foundation in response to the war in Ukraine. The Foundation has allocated over PLN 13 million to the program so far, co-financing 217 projects. The project is implemented by the Education for Democracy Foundation.
“It has been four years since Russia launched a full-scale war against Ukraine. Ukraine’s struggle for independence and fundamental values continues, and the efforts of the Ukrainian people constantly require our solidarity and support. In Poland, many local organizations and groups continue their activities – humanitarian aid is being organized, refugees are being supported in learning Polish and finding their place on the labor market, and initiatives supporting the civilian population during the war are also being implemented in Ukraine. That is why we support this extremely necessary work of civil society,” says Martyna Bogaczyk, President of the Education for Democracy Foundation.
The Grant Committee of the “Support for Ukraine” program, out of 212 applications submitted in an open grant competition, recommended granting subsidies to 21 projects in the amount of up to PLN 60,000 each.
The selected activities focus on support for schoolchildren and their families, integration and resilience building, increasing access to education, psychological and language support, as well as counteracting discrimination and misinformation about the Ukrainian refugee community in Poland and events in Ukraine.
