Thousands of hours of workshops with children and teenagers, educational campaigns and local social projects as well as many active student-volunteers of the “PROJECTOR – Student Volunteers” Program – you could learn about all of these topics during the 8th Podkarpacie Voluntary Service Gala, held on December 5, 2015 in the Youth Community Center in Rzeszów.
The students that were awarded the “2015 Podkarpacie Volunteer” title were Edyta Niemczyk, Magdalena Kuźmik, Magdalena Zagrobelna, Maciej Wróbel, Piotr Kruczek and Piotr Moroch. Their names were made public during the 8th Podkarpacie Voluntary Service Gala in Rzeszów. They are active participants of the “PROJECTOR – Student Volunteers” Program of the Polish-American Freedom Foundation. Moreover, two institutions were awarded the “Socially active school” award – The Primary School in Torki and the School Complex in Wysoka Głogowska. Stanisław Kruczek, member of the Voivodship Council, was also awarded the title of “Podkarpacie Personality 2015” for his vigorous support of the local NGOs in the past year. The awarded students were engaged in various projects, such as educational projects, excursions during the summer break , and organization of educational workshops within the Young Nobel framework, where they propagated the idea that science could be exciting. They were role models for other students and have managed to integrate many of their friends into the “PROJECTOR – Student Volunteers” initiative.
The gala was organized by the Inspiration Generator Foundation, the Volunteering Development Foundation and the Youth Community Center in Rzeszów.
“The 8th Podkarpacie Voluntary Service Gala was a great chance to talk about the activities of the last year, but also to learn about the volunteers themselves. They are our students-volunteers who share their knowledge and experience in a unique and accessible way. Thanks to them the volunteers have a chance to gain social competencies as well as work on their auto-presentation skills. They develop their expert knowledge and improve their chances of influencing their professional careers. It is also important to put a spotlight on these students and their successes and celebrate them together. This year’s motto of “More than just volunteering” was no accident,” says Kamil Wrzos, the coordinator of the event.
The Podkarpacie Voluntary Service has been organized in Rzeszów since 2008. This year, it marks the beginning of the series of events serving the voluntary service promotion in the region. The organizers also plan a conference entitled “More than just volunteering”. It will take place on December 16, 2015 at 10 a.m. in the Youth Community Center in Rzeszów.
