The 14th round of the Sector 3.0 Festival, which took place at the Cambridge Innovation Center Warsaw, was attended by a record number of over a thousand participants. The event was held under the Work Smarter slogan and concentrated mainly on shaping habits helping in effective work, and on AI application.
There were 60 invited experts who discussed how our work looks like now, in the time of revolution related to artificial intelligence. The guests analyzed ways of shaping new and intelligent habits, supporting us in effective cooperation with technologies. Many issues were related to very popular in recent months subject of artificial intelligence and use of it for managing, communication or automation of effective individual and team work.
“It is up to us to choose the direction of technology. And it is up to us how we will use AI. We can use it in a creative way and for good purposes. We can also create information clutter,” Prof. Aleksandra Przegalińska of Koźminski University claims.
Discussed were also formal and legal issues, as well as ways of minimizing social and environmental costs of new technologies. During the panel discussion opening the event, Filip Konopczyński of the Ministry of Digitalization said that “We need a new social contract on what we can do as the state to preserve those values that are important to us.”
The Festival participants also involved in the discussion, commented on the lecturers’ opinions and shared their thoughts. They discussed the importance of hybrid work which allows maintaining balance between productivity and mental health, they also pointed to the meaning of human factor at the era of technology, and to the fact that human relations remain critical and technologies shall support and not replace them.
During the panel debate with Joanna Sosnowska of Techstorie and Bartosz Borowiec of Deloitte Digital the issues of inclusive technologies were discussed, such as how to create and implement tools available for everyone regardless of how advanced the members of a team are, what is their gender, age, or language.
It is worth to mention the Polish-American Freedom Foundation Sector 3.0 Prize, which in 2024 went to the Center for Citizenship Education Foundation. As Polish-American Freedom Foundation Program Director and Chairman of the Prize Committee Radosław Jasiński says, “The Center for Citizenship Education Foundation has been successfully improving the quality of Polish education for thirty years. An important element of that success has been the use of modern technologies. It allows scaling the activities, benefitting some 40,000 teachers and almost 10,000 schools all over Poland annually.” The prize is a grant of PLN 40,000 for the winner’s statutory activities and national promotion.
During the sector 3.0 Festival the recommendations for AI application by social sector were presented. The publication was prepared on the basis of experience gained from the pilot project implemented by Sector 3.0 in cooperation with DELab UW, CampusAI, and Google. The conclusions, experiences and good practices were collected and published in a short form to be downloaded for free here.
