"Since you have a real impact on the future of a single person or a class or sometimes the whole generation.” That is the AI answer to the question why it is worth becoming a teacher. Out of over 200 people who have started their teaching career at the School of Education, many were driven by quite different motivation. One thing is certain: no other profession is like that; it is hard to describe it in words.
If you want to feel that impact, dive into teaching and relationships, that is the right moment. The enrollment to the only in Poland free full-time postgraduate course for the future teachers is on.
Over nine years more than 200 teachers of biology, history, Polish language and mathematics have graduated from the School of Education. Each of them was driven by different motivation – some have wanted to be a teacher from their childhood, others decided to become one after several years in other professions. But they all share the feeling that teaching is not just a profession. It’s a road that requires mindfulness, courage and willingness to constantly develop.
What do the studies at the School of Education look like?
The “PAFF and UW School of Education’s” program combines academic classes and intensive practice at schools, as well as individual work with a tutor, and development of teaching and social competencies. Over 10 months students are learning how to teach, but first how to build relationships, support their students and react to challenges they will have to face at a contemporary school.
The candidates can get not only free education but also a scholarship of PLN 2,500 a month funded by the Polish-American Freedom Foundation. This allows them to enter the teachers’ world with full engagement. Candidates living out of Warsaw also receive a free of charge room at a dormitory.
“Teacher is not only a profession – it’s also a selection of values. At the School of Education, we help the future teachers find their own style, understand their students and build wise, modern education based on relationships,” the School of Education Director Professor Jolanta Sujecka-Zając says.
The course is for MA or M.Sc. holders who want to teach Polish, mathematics, history or biology. We don’t require prior experience in teaching –what counts is motivation, openness and readiness to work with young people.
