It is already 9th time that the PAFF and UW School of Education gives the education passionate people a chance to get a license to teach Polish, history and social sciences, biology and life sciences, and math. With no fee – on the contrary: we give a scholarship and a place in a dormitory for free in the case of those students who don’t reside in Warsaw.
The full-time postgraduate course at the School of Education of Polish-American Freedom Foundation and University of Warsaw is focused not only on effective subject teaching but also on psychological and educational issues. They also pay a lot of attention to the need to improve one’s competence and building relationships. Counteracting educational exclusion, work with students with special needs and in a class where students have various learning abilities, formative assessment, teamwork, cooperation with other teachers and with parents, preventing burnout – these are just a few elements of a robust study program designed in cooperation with prestigious Teachers College, Columbia University, New York.
Who can apply?
In recent months, definitely more people got interested in becoming a teacher and in getting a teaching license.
“More and more young people who have just graduated from university want to work in education. But also, some older ones who have dreamt to work at school for a time contact us now. They feel that the job of a teacher prestige is getting higher, and it is the right time to get qualifications for that job and pursue their passion,” the School of Education Director, Prof. Jolanta Sujecka-Zając says.
Courses at the School of Education are addressed to people who have an MA/M.Sc. diploma or are studying at the last year of their MA/M.Sc. course, and would like to teach one of the following four subjects:
- Polish language and literature
- mathematics
- biology and life sciences
- history and social sciences
Eligible are both those who already have their teaching license and those who don’t have much experience in work with children and young people. Enrollment to the postgraduate course at the PAFF and UW School of Education will be on by September.
Courses different to any other – a scholarship and a room in a dormitory for free
A course at the School of Education is outstanding not only due to its program but also to the way it is run in. The classes are in a full-time mode, from Monday to Friday, but not only as the academic ones because students get also everyday practice classes that allow them to check their new skills and educational tools on an ongoing basis.
Since it’s difficult to study at a full-time course and work at the same time, each student not only doesn’t pay any fee but also can apply for a high scholarship. In 2024/25 academic year it will be no less than PLN 2,000 a month. Additionally, people who live out of Warsaw can also apply for a room at the UW dormitory for free. Thanks to PAFF, every year over 90 percent of all students at the School of Education get their scholarships.
However, we can accept only a limited number of students – this year we can offer courses for only 60 people.
