How to teach methods of working with young people? What didactic tools are offered by the School of Education so that teachers could not only effectively implement the curriculum but also inspire their students? Those and other issues were discussed during the meeting with Prof. Anna Fornalczyk and Dr. Krzysztof Pawłowski at the School of Education on May 9, 2019.
Members of the Polish-American Freedom Foundation Board of Directors, accompanied by the SE staff and students, visited the Blessed Father Popiełuszko Elementary School No. 3 of the Covenant of Families where they met School Director Mirosława Galas-Piasecka, and attended a math class conducted for the 4th year pupils by Małgorzata Ładzińska, an SE graduate. During the lesson children were learning how to compare decimal fractions. There was the atmosphere of discussion, and they used a popular war game as a teaching aid.
Prof. Anna Fornalczyk and Dr. Krzysztof Pawłowski participated also in didactic classes at SE. Prof. Fornalczyk took part in the Polish teaching class on fake news published in media to mislead readers and induce their desired reactions. The class was conducted by Kinga Białek. The students learned the methods of fact checking in the Internet and discussed the ways of working on the text published in the Internet during Polish classes.
Dr. Krzysztof Pawłowski acted as a student during a math teaching class conducted by Marcin Karpiński. The future teachers were working on the concept of angles in math, referring to examples and methodological problems they faced at schools where they have practical classes and sharing their own ideas for math exercises.
