Polish, math, biology and history teachers have a chance to start the only in Poland full-time postgraduate course in teaching and psychological and pedagogical competences. Studying at School of Education is free of charge, and students can get attractive scholarships and free accommodation at a residence hall.
In 2019-20 academic year, PAFF and UW School of Education invites a Masters degree students and graduates as well as teachers with work experience of up to 10 years to study at one of the following four paths:
- Polish;
- History and social studies;
- Math;
- Biology and life sciences;

Who can apply for a course?
Every graduate of a Masters course in Polish studies, history, math or biology, or in the case of the last two courses, also related courses such as physics, chemistry, biotechnology, or environmental protection. Eligible to apply are also teachers with less than 10-years of work experience. Applications will be accepted by June 10.
A scholarship, a room in a residence hall, and more
Unlike at other traditional postgraduate courses, those held at School of Education are full-time ones. Therefore you can not combine studying with full-time work. That is why students can receive such a big support and so many benefits.
SE changes school to make it a better place
The syllabus of SE courses was designed in cooperation with experts of the renowned Teachers College, Columbia University, New York. “Our priority is practical education, we show effective teaching and educational tools, and improve abilities useful in every profession, such as effective communication, management and leadership skills, designing and implementing of teaching strategy, and work planning. Our students get professionally prepared for teaching, have their leadership skills and creativity developed,” explains School of Education Director Prof. Jolanta Sujecka-Zając.

Free postgraduate courses were established thanks to cooperation of the Polish-American Freedom Foundation, University of Warsaw, and the Foundation for Quality Education. “We believe in the prestige of teaching profession and we know that a good teacher is the most important element of every model of education. We want to make Polish school better,” says Program Director Magdalena Swat-Pawlicka. And she adds that thanks to two new paths, another group of future and practicing teachers can benefit from the offer of School of Education. “It is very important to improve social sciences and biology teachers’ skills so that they can develop in their students skills that are critical in young people who will soon become 21st century citizens – of critical thinking and of scientific thinking.”
