On January 25, 2023 the ceremony of presenting the Kirkland Research (KRES) scholarship holders of 2022/23 academic year with their diplomas took place at the Column Hall of the Faculty of History, University of Warsaw.
The recently completed round had 5 scholarship holders from Ukraine and 1 scholarship holder from Moldova. They joined the group of 36 KRES alumni of earlier rounds.
At the ceremony the scholarship holders presented the results of projects they had run over their 4 month long research internship at Polish universities, and then got their diplomas from representatives of Polish-American Freedom Foundation and the Leaders of Change Foundation.
The ceremony was attended by the Warsaw Group of Lane Kirkland Program participants and scholarship holders present in Warsaw.
The Lane Kirkland Scholarship Program has been supporting individual development of young, ambitious and active citizens of Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia states for 23 years. Its objective is to share Polish experience of political transformation and European integration with representatives of the countries of the Region. About 45 scholarship holders participate in the program annually. Over the years 2000-2022 the program was completed by 986 people coming from 13 countries.
In 2016 r. a new initiative was created under Lane Kirkland Scholarship Program – the Kirkland Research (KRES) which was the response to the need of short-term research internships for people with a good research standing. It offers them a stay in Poland to carry out individual research, during which they get support from their tutor and which shall lead to preparing an academic paper. Their research can be carried out in the following fields:
- Economics and Management,
- Management in Business, NGO, Culture, Education, and Health Care,
- Public Administration (at state and local government levels),
- Law,
- Social Sciences (Social Psychology and Sociology),
- Political Sciences and International Relations,
- Environmental Protection,
- Security,
- Crisis Management,
- Development Policy and Humanitarian Aid.
Under the Kirkland Research the work can be done in Polish or English.
The Lane Kirkland Scholarship Program, under which the Kirkland Research is run, is managed by the Leaders of Change Foundation.
