Elementary and secondary schools across Poland can sign up to participate in the second edition of the “Course on Resilience” program through September 8. During the upcoming school year, participating teams will work on strengthening the resilience of students, as well as that of the entire school community.
Launched in 2024, the “Course on Resilience” program is an initiative of Polish-American Freedom Foundation aimed at strengthening the mental resilience of children and adolescents. The program’s goal is to develop the competencies of teachers and educators who, in their work with the youngest students, are increasingly confronted with low mood, low motivation, loneliness, and a lack of self-esteem. The program is implemented in collaboration with the School with Class Foundation.
This new edition is based on the Resilience Map and the Resilience-Enhancing Model, developed by the program’s experts. Schools will explore and develop resilience in three dimensions: psychological, social, and institutional.
School teams consisting of 3–8 teachers, including a person serving as the program coordinator at the school and the school principal may apply to the program.
Program participants will receive free materials and a program guide. They will also take part in regional in-person training sessions, online training, and webinars. Throughout the program, each school will work with a facilitator who will help the team plan and implement activities tailored to the school’s needs.
A new feature of the program is an additional, optional offering for school principals. Participants can take advantage of free training and mentoring support, as well as group supervision sessions. This will allow them to take a closer look at how their own school operates and develop specific solutions to strengthen its resilience in three dimensions: psychological, social, and institutional.
